The movie has very many shortcomings. Too many to enumerate. I agree about the Mr. Darcy in the movie. To me, he did not look proud and aloof at all. In fact, he looked totally the opposite. O_o And in the first proposal scene, he sounded very much like someone reading a book aloud. =.=

You are right. The girl who played Jane in the movie is better looking and her features are much more delicate than that of Susannah Harker's who played Jane in the tv series. But I read somewhere that when they were casting the tv series, they were looking for someone who looks something like a Grecian bust to play Jane. It seems that women back then strived to achieve that look as it was what was considered beautiful back then. After knowing this, I changed my mind and think she is the perfect Jane. She does look like a Grecian bust. ^.^

Well, what could have topped Colin Firth in a wet shirt? I didn't like the movie much either. I was annoyed by the ways it departed from the book. Why did they have to reduce the number of Bennett sisters, the number of Bingley sisters? And most of all why did they have to make Mr Bennett still in love with his wife when it's evident from the book he's long lost any love for her? And Mr Darcy in the movie left me completely cold. The one character I liked better in the movie is the eldest sister - she's supposed to be the beauty of the family but in the series I found her rather horsey.
